Sons Of Smokey (SOS) app serves as a platform that aims to bring together individuals utilizing public lands and volunteers interested in contributing to the preservation of these communal spaces for future generations.

The SOS app enables users to identify and report on illegal dumping occurrences on public lands. Users can geotag and document abandoned vehicles, dump sites, among other environmental offenses. Subsequently, this data is incorporated into a real-time map accessible to users.

Participants are encouraged to scout and assess the reported locations for potential clean-up initiatives. Once an area has been restored, users can mark it as cleaned within the app's interface.

The operational process involves:

• Downloading the app and registering an account
• Launching the SOS app while on public land premises
• Spotting any instances of dumped waste, then double-tapping the area on the map to tag it with a descriptive note and picture
• Upon submission, a trash icon will be denoted on the map to highlight the reported issue
• If capable, users are encouraged to promptly clean the site and update it within the app by replacing the initial image with a new one and detailing the undertaken actions, followed by removing the trash location marker
